About this class
This Competent Person – Excavation & Trenching course provides the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify hazards and support safe excavation operations. Participants will learn soil classification, protective system selection, inspection practices, safe access and egress, and recognition of changing site conditions. Emphasis is placed on recognizing existing and predictable hazards, understanding the competent person’s authority to take prompt corrective action, and following applicable safety requirements and company procedures. Upon completion, participants will be better prepared to evaluate excavation conditions and address hazards that could endanger workers.
